Wike Offers N20m Reward for Capture of Wanted Criminals

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has taken a decisive step in the fight against crime by placing a bounty of N20 million on two notorious criminals declared wanted by the FCT Police Command.

During a visit to the command where he witnessed the parade of some suspected criminals, Wike commended the police for their efforts in combating crime. Notably, several suspected kidnappers were apprehended, and N9 million in ransom money was recovered.

Expressing his resolve to root out criminal elements, Wike declared, “You said there are about two or three more persons to be arrested; let me put money on their heads. Wherever they are, send your men after them, I will give them N20 million, go and fish them out from wherever they are, use that money on their head. I want to see them dead or alive.”

In addition to the bounty, Wike pledged further support to the police, promising to provide additional vehicles and communication gadgets to enhance their intelligence-gathering capabilities. He assured residents of the FCT that with the backing of the President, the authorities are fully prepared to tackle criminal activities effectively.

The minister emphasized the importance of residents’ cooperation with law enforcement, urging them to see the police as allies and to provide valuable information. “Information is key,” he emphasized, highlighting the critical role of intelligence in apprehending criminals.

Meanwhile, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Bennett Igweh, reported significant progress in the fight against crime. Notably, the arrest of eight members of a one-chance gang and a gang of kidnappers responsible for terrorizing the FCT, as well as the apprehension of the head of a criminal syndicate involved in kidnappings and killings in Kabusa, Defense estate, and surrounding areas.

With concerted efforts and strong support from both the government and residents, authorities are confident in their ability to combat crime effectively and ensure the safety and security of all residents in the FCT.
