New App For Drivers To Curb Activities Of One Chance In FCT

A Nigerian technology company, Hitch Africa has launched an e-hailing mobile App to reduce the activities of “One Chance” and ensure smooth and seamless On Demand Service experience in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Lagos.

The Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory, Benneth Igweh mni, urged residents and stakeholders in the FCT to collaborate with the police to ensure total eradication of incidents of ‘one chance’ in the nation’s capital.

He noted the command is committed to creating a safe and secure transport system in the FCT.

CP Igweh stated this on Thursday in a keynote address at a one-day Hitch Africa inaugural partners’ townhall meeting and training for drivers, conduct vehicle diagnostics and health check.

Represented by an Assistant Commissioner of Police for Abuja Metro, ACP Olabisi Davies, reassured that with collaboration of stakeholders, FCT will be a safe and secured place for residents and visitors.While advising residents to share intelligence with the police any time that notice anything amiss to achieve secured transport sector in the FCT.

He also canvassed for training and re-training of drivers and regular checks on their mental health as well as condition of the vehicles to achieve a safer roads in FCT.

Co-Founder/CEO, Hitch Africa, Paul Obalonye, in a welcome address noted that the training for drivers, conduct vehicle diagnostics and health check stated that the training aims at ensuring safer and secured roads and related matters in the effort to achieving sustainable transportation ecosystem in the Federal Capital Territory and the country at large.

He stressed that the training would also provide a chance for stakeholders in the security and traffic sector opportunity to exchange ideas and chart the way forward, for transportation system in FCT by producing actionable strategy to reduce roads accidents.

Obalonye maintained that if the government and other stakeholders are able to ensure the delivery of safer roads reducing to the barest minimum vehicle accidents both from human and/or mechanical error through training and re-training of drivers, and ensure strict adherence to extant traffic regulations, there would be sustainable transportation system in the FCT and the country at large.

He further assured of collaborative relationship with partners (drivers and riders) once they sign up on the app, while enjoying a wonderful life long riding experience with Hitch Africa Super App.

He disclosed thus: “We have identified gaps in the market which the drivers and riders are facing, in terms of the security, commission, insurance, pension and welfare, so once the drivers and riders face currently.
