Wike Initiates Construction of New Road Project in Abuja
Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, Commences Construction of 5km Road in Saburi, AMAC
The Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, initiated the construction of a five-kilometre
access road in Saburi, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), on Wednesday.
This marked the sixth and final ceremony of its kind undertaken by the minister within a span of less than two weeks.
During the ceremony, Mr. Wike emphasized the importance of delivering significant projects like roads,
which residents had lost hope for, as part of President Bola Tinubu’s vision to restore hope among the
people. He stressed that governance revolves around meeting the needs of the people and reiterated his commitment to fulfilling this mandate.
Addressing the challenges faced, Mr. Wike acknowledged the current tough situation but expressed optimism for a positive turnaround.
He urged FCT residents and Nigerians to pray for the president’s good health and wisdom to succeed in delivering beneficial projects.
Following a request from AMAC Chairman, Christopher Maikalangu, for the expansion of the Gwagwa-Karimo-Deidei road to alleviate traffic congestion, Mr. Wike announced plans to construct the road.
This decision was prompted by the road’s strategic importance as a commercial route and its significant impact on economic activities in the FCT.
Responding to Mr. Maikalangu’s plea, Mr. Wike assured the residents of Saburi that their requests had been heard and promptly agreed to the expansion of the road.
He emphasized President Tinubu’s commitment to addressing the needs of rural communities and urged continued support for the president’s efforts.
Furthermore, Mr. Wike disclosed plans to inaugurate the construction of additional roads across the six area councils of the FCT within the next three months.
He appealed to the Senate and House of Representatives Committees on FCT to support the passage of
the FCT statutory budget to facilitate the delivery of more infrastructure projects in rural communities.
In closing, the Chief of Jiwa, Idris Musa, expressed gratitude to Mr. Wike for his commitment to constructing rural roads across the six area councils, affirming the positive impact of the ongoing projects on the community.
