FCT Minister (Wike) Says No Place For Bandits In FCT.

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, assured Bwari area council residents of intensified efforts to deter bandits and terrorists, addressing concerns during a town hall meeting focused on escalating kidnappings. Recognizing the impact of increased insecurity in the North East, Wike pledged, with security agencies’ collaboration, to render the entire FCT inhospitable to criminal activities.

Highlighting the government’s commitment, Wike emphasized President Bola Tinubu’s directive to provide necessary support for security agencies, signaling a departure from the norm. He underscored the importance of protecting lives and property, citing a recent high-level security meeting summoned by the President to address the rising threats, particularly in Bwari.

Wike assured comprehensive support for security agencies, dismissing any excuses about inadequate equipment. He emphasized the strategic positioning of Bwari, sharing boundaries with Niger, Kaduna, and Nasarawa states, making it a potential target for displaced bandits from the North East. The minister pledged to make the region inhospitable for these criminals.

Bwari area council chairman, John Gabaya, elaborated on the challenges posed by the council’s vast size, comprising 16 districts and over 90 villages. The difficult terrain further complicates security efforts. The meeting, attended by notable figures like former Senator Philip Aduda, the Etsu-Bwari, Sarkin-Bwari, and Bwari Area Council chairman, emphasized a collective approach to address security challenges across area councils.
