The Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has been announced as one of the distinguished recipients of the Peace Achievers International Award 2025, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to women empowerment, social inclusion, and gender equality in Nigeria.
The award, which will be presented at the forthcoming Peace Achievers International Conference and Awards 2025, is slated to hold on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.
The annual event, organized by the Peace Achievers International, celebrates individuals and organizations who have made exceptional strides in promoting peace, development, and humanitarian service across Africa.
Speaking ahead of the event, the Convener of the Peace Achievers International Awards, Ambassador Kingsley Amafibe, commended Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim for her transformative leadership in advancing the welfare and empowerment of women and girls across Nigeria.
“Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim has shown extraordinary commitment to the cause of women empowerment and the protection of vulnerable groups. Her policies and advocacy have inspired confidence and hope in thousands of Nigerian women,” Amb. Amafibe stated.
He further noted that her initiatives have strengthened Nigeria’s commitment to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goals 5 and 10, which focus on gender equality and reducing inequalities.
“The Minister’s work in promoting economic empowerment, ending gender-based violence, and expanding opportunities for women entrepreneurs aligns perfectly with the ideals of the Peace Achievers International Awards,” Amafibe added.
Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, since assuming office, has been instrumental in implementing programs that uplift rural women, support widows and displaced persons, and promote the inclusion of women in leadership and governance. Her ministry has also championed national campaigns for the protection of the rights of women and children and the prevention of gender-based violence.
The Peace Achievers International Conference and Awards 2025, themed “Building Peace Through Sectoral Collaboration and Leadership”, will bring together diplomats, business leaders, youth advocates, and policymakers to discuss pathways to sustainable peace and national development. Other notable personalities expected to grace the ceremony include top government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, traditional leaders, and representatives of international organizations. “This year’s event is about celebrating those who are not just talking about peace, but actively building it through leadership and impact,” Amb. Amafibe concluded.
